The Montage Trail connection is intended to close a gap in the trail system identified in the Active Transportation Plan by connecting the west end of the existing Montage Trail to Collier Canyon Road.

The project mutually benefits the City, the residents in the area, and the Las Positas Community College (College) students, faculty, and staff by providing a path for bicycling, walking, and other non-motorized uses. Since a portion of the work is on College property, the City has been working collaboratively with Chabot Las Positas Community College District, building consensus on the proposed improvements, and also on acquiring a no fee trail easement. The City has also been coordinating with the Montage Homeowners Association, the residential properties located south of the trail. The project will include:

  • intersection improvements for pedestrians and bicyclists,
  • installation of an off-road paved asphalt concrete and on road concrete trail, sidewalk, curb and gutter, curb ramps,
  • replacing existing curb ramps to comply with current ADA regulations,
  • landscaping,
  • traffic lane striping and signage,
  • pedestrian crosswalks,
  • buffered bike lanes, and
  • new parking spaces on Collier Canyon Road.
