The City's social media accounts are intended to connect with the public in more meaningful ways with photos, events and media announcements. Any direct shares to the City's social media pages and its list of followers may be considered a public record, which is subject to disclosure pursuant to the California Public Records Act.

Comments or posts containing any of the following forms of content shall not be allowed:

  • Profane, obscene, violent, or pornographic language and/or content, including sexual content or links to sexual content;
  • Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation;
  • Defamatory or personal attacks;
  • Solicitations of commerce;
  • Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;
  • Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems;
  • Content that violates legal ownership interest, such as copyright, of any party;
  • Personnel matters;
  • Comments in support of, or opposition to, political campaigns, candidates, or ballot measures;
  • Content that is confidential, privileged, including attorney-client privileged information or that work product, or otherwise not subject to disclosure;
  • Spam or other off-topic comments not related to the particular posting being commented upon or to City business.

The City disclaims any and all responsibility and liability for any materials that the City deems inappropriate for posting, which cannot be removed in an expeditious and otherwise timely manner. 

The opinions expressed by visitors to City Social Media site(s) do not reflect the opinion of the City.
