General

  • Ready.gov offers resources to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate emergencies.
  • FEMA offers resources to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate emergencies.
  • Red Cross offers resources to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate emergencies.
    • Red Cross's Sound the Alarm campaign provides resources to make homes safer. Sound the Alarm. Save a Life.
  • Alameda County Health Care for the Homeless offers emergency resources, including cooling center locations, throughout Alameda County.
  • Earthquake Warning California is a statewide warning system managed by the Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). Visit this site to find resources, sign up for alerts, and get prepared for earthquakes.
  • Zonehaven is an evacuation management tool used by first responders. Residents are encouraged to Know Your Zone by visiting the community-facing Zonehaven AWARE site to find the zone you live in. First responders will reference your zone in emergency alerts, like AC Alert.

Alerts / Notifications

  • AC Alert sends emergency alerts by phone, text, and/or email throughout Alameda County. This is an opt-in system.
  • PG&E sends alerts about outages, notices, and service information by phone, text, and/or email. This is an opt-in system.
  • National Weather Service provides a list of third party sources that send weather alerts through phone, text, and/or email. The listed sources are opt-in systems.
  • MyShake App sends alerts about earthquakes. This is an opt-in system.

Volunteer

  • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates and trains volunteers in basic emergency response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
