Accumulation

Aside from home composting or mulching, it is unlawful to dump, bury, burn, or otherwise dispose of, or accumulate and store, any solid waste on private property within the city.

Cart Storage

Solid waste carts shall be removed from the public right-of-way the same day they have been serviced by the franchise hauler. Solid waste carts must be neatly stored on private property and out of obvious public view including driveways or front yards.

Curbside Collection

The City’s franchise/Livermore Sanitation, Inc. (LSI) provides single-family residents up to three (3) curbside waste collections per year at no additional cost. Please visit livermoresanitation.com or call 925-449-7300 for information and to schedule your curbside collection.

Mandatory Service

With the exception of documented vacant property, it is mandatory for all residents and commercial occupants or property owners to subscribe with the City’s franchise hauler/Livermore Sanitation, Inc. (LSI) for weekly garbage, recyclables, and organic materials cart collection services.

Scavenging

Once garbage, recyclables, or organic materials have been put into their carts and/or placed on the street for collection, they become the property of the franchise hauler.

However, no person shall scavenge from any carts located onprivate property without permission from the property owner or occupant.

Unpermitted Haulers

No property owner, business owner, or resident shall employ the services of a hauler other than the franchise hauler or a City-permitted hauler to dispose of any solid waste, recyclables, or compostable materials.

Violations

Violators will be subject to citation and penalties per LMC 1.20.
