Temporary Signs in Public Right-of-Way

Post Date:06/30/2023
On June 12, the City Council reaffirmed its direction to prohibit all signs in the public right-of-way. As a result, temporary signs will no longer be permitted to be placed in the designated public right-of-way area effective July 1. Examples of temporary signs include garage sale signs, real estate signs, political signs, etc.

City staff will remove temporary signs that are placed in the designated public right-of-way, which is the area within ten feet of the curb and any backing lot landscaped easement areas. Signs found to be in violation of the ordinance will be removed, held for 15 days, and then discarded. City staff will work to contact the owner of the sign based on the information displayed.

More information is available on the City's website

If you want to report a temporary sign in violation of this ordinance, or have questions, you can call the City's Neighborhood Preservation Division at (925) 960-4444.
