This recruitment is continuously open to those candidates who are currently employed as a peace officer with a California Police or Sheriff’s Department. 

This recruitment is currently open.  Entry-level police officer candidates have no prior law enforcement experience and have not received California POST certified police academy training.  Upon successful completion of an academy, Police Officer Trainees are appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  The minimum age at time of appointment is 21-years old.  Refer to the City of Livermore Human Resources website for additional documentation required for the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) written test and the POST Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB) physical agility test.  

This recruitment is currently closed.  Academy Graduate police officer candidates have successfully completed a California POST approved Basic Police Academy with a valid California POST Academy Certificate and is not currently employed as a police officer. 

Community Service Specialists perform a variety of non-sworn police related tasks for units in Patrol, Traffic, and Property/Evidence.  Duties include taking crime, incident, and collision reports; directing traffic at accident scenes; provides general assistance to Police Officers; performs crime scene duties; and performs general administrative tasks for projects and special events. 

Animal Services Officers are assigned under the Operations Division of the Livermore Police Department.  Duties include responding to questions and service calls from the public about animals; provides advice and resources related to animals; patrols the streets in a vehicle designed to transport animals; investigates complaints related to animal nuisances, dog bites, and cruelty; issues citations for failure to comply with city ordinances; and performs other duties as assigned. 

The Livermore Police Department Reserve Unit is comprised of volunteers who have completed one of three police reserve training modules as defined by California POST.  Reserve Officers’ primary function is to support police officers in the field.  They are also used in a variety of other functions such as traffic control, bicycle patrol, crime scene security, public events, school functions, prisoner transports, and investigations.  If you are interested in learning more about the Reserve Officer program, its testing process, qualifications, and time commitment, contact Lieutenant Joe Draghi at jdraghi@cityoflivermore.net.
