A short-term rental is a residential dwelling, or portion thereof, that is made available for rent for a period of 30 consecutive days or less. (Livermore Municipal Code Chapter 5.90.020.H)

The City of Livermore adopted a new ordinance (Livermore Municipal Code Chapter 5.90) that regulates short-term rentals, including permitting requirements. The general purpose of the Chapter is to ensure to the City's residents the tranquility and peaceful enjoyment of their homes or apartments; to mitigate incompatibilities between short term rentals and their neighbors; and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the occupants of the short-term rentals and their guests and to encourage them to be respectful of the residents of the neighborhood.
