Prior to 2020, Flagpole plaza consisted primarily of grass turf. This was removed to provide outdoor dining options during the pandemic. Over the past year, Community Development has worked closely with Public Works, a landscape architect, Livermore Downtown, and downtown businesses to develop a design vision for renovating the plaza. Some of the priorities and amenities being considered are:

• Public gathering space
• Outdoor dining areas
• Multi-use grass area containing a seat wall, trees, accent lighting, and cafe tables
• Regrading, leveling, and resurfacing of the site with smooth stamped concrete to match downtown
• New posts with string lights to enhance ambiance and usability at night

Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2025 after final approval of the design.
