Key to the City
Key to the City is a unique behind-the-scenes look at municipal operations. It is a free program open to people who live or work in Livermore.
This program has been on hold but is set to return August 8 - October 24, 2024. Applications open April 1, 2024 and close May 3, 2024. Applicants are selected on a first come, first served basis, however a list of interested candidates is kept for future Key to the City programs.
About the Program
Key to the City allows the public to peek behind the curtain of local government. Participants meet the Mayor and City staff, take part in a mock City Council meeting, venture on a "Discover Livermore" bus tour, and explore municipal facilities such as the fire training tower, water reclamation plant, and airport administration building during two-hour sessions held weekly for around 11 weeks.
Feedback from past participants has been overwhelmingly positive, including comments such as, "...Time spent very wisely;" and, "...You'll never view government in quite the same way."
2024 Program Schedule
Thursday evenings Aug. – Oct. / Most sessions are from 6 to 8 p.m.
