Grant support is available on a quarterly basis to artists and community organizations which provide activities and services that advance the overall mission and goals of the Commission for the Arts. Applicants’ projects must meet the definition of public art activities as defined in the City’s Public Art Policy. Artists or organizations are eligible for grant awards of up to $1,000. The number of grants awarded each quarter will vary depending on the resources available.

Applications must be received by the City’s Office of Innovation & Economic Development by 5:00 p.m. on the 1st of March, June, September and December, and will be reviewed by the Commission for the Arts at their regular meeting that same month. If using U.S. Mail your application must be received by the City on the 1st. Final grant awards will be announced within thirty days of approval.

Grant support is available to artists and community organizations which provide projects, programs and services that advance the overall mission and goals of the Commission and the artsALIVE! Cultural Arts Master Plan. Applicants’ proposed projects and programs must meet the definition of public art activities as defined in the City’s Public Art Policy. Artists or organizations are eligible for grant awards of up to $10,000. The Commission for the Arts will review Project and Program Grant applications twice each year in March and September. The number of grants awarded each year will vary depending on the resources available.

Applications are due to the Office of Innovation & Economic Development by 5:00 p.m. on the 1st of March and September, beginning September 1, 2016. At the February and August meetings of the Commission for the Arts a Project and Program Grants Subcommittee will be appointed. All eligible applications received by the deadline will be reviewed by the subcommittee and their recommendations will be presented to the Commission at the March and September meetings. The Commission will make its recommendations to the City Council in April and October. Results will be announced following the Council meeting.

Applications will be accepted from individuals or organizations or may be solicited via a Request for Proposal (RFP) by the Commission for the Arts. The Commission for the Arts will review unsolicited Public Art Grant applications for grants over $10,000 on an annual basis. Applicants must meet the definition of public art as defined in the City’s Public Art Policy, or qualify under the list of permissible expenditures.

At the September meeting of the Commission for the Arts, a Public Art Grants Subcommittee will be appointed to review the applications. All unsolicited applications received by October 1st will be reviewed by the Office of Innovation and Economic Development staff for eligibility. Eligible applications are then provided to the Subcommittee who will work with program staff to evaluate the applications for compliance with the Commission’s current goals and priorities. This process may include an interview with the applicant, at the discretion of the Public Art Grants Subcommittee. The Subcommittee will make a recommendation to the Commission at the October meeting. The Commission will make their final recommendations to the City Council annually in November.

The Commission for the Arts, in order to support and further the education of Livermore students in the arts, has established annual scholarships of $600 each to be awarded to ten worthy graduating high school students who reside in Livermore and/or attend a Livermore school.

Applications are available each February. You may also obtain one at the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District website, from the high school career centers, or at the Livermore Joint Unified School District Office.
