• Livermore Municipal Water never shuts off water service for non-payment outside of normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) A delinquent account’s service will not be shut off after hours or during the weekend.
  
  
• The City of Livermore will never ask you to pay your utility bill using gift cards, pre-paid credit cards, or money transfers. We will also never ask you to make a payment to anyone other than the City of Livermore.

Tips for Identifying Phone Scams

• The City of Livermore does not use automated voice-response systems to call customers about their utility bills. All calls from our Utility Billing Division are from live representatives.

Tips for Identifying Email Scams

• The City of Livermore Utility Billing Division will never ask you to make an online payment for your utility bill on a website that is not our bill pay portal.
  
  
• The City of Livermore Utility Billing Division will never send you an email with an attachment unless it is a document that you have requested.

Tips for Identifying In-Person Scams

• All City of Livermore field employees wear uniforms, carry employee identification, and drive vehicles that have the City of Livermore logo.
  
  
• Our employees will never visit your property to collect payment and will only accept payments in-person at Livermore City Hall.

Phone Scams

If you receive a call that sounds suspicious or is about an unpaid bill that you do not believe you owe, write down the phone number and hang up.

Call the City of Livermore Utility Billing Division at (925) 960-4320 immediately so that we are aware of the situation. The Federal Trade Commission and FCC also have online forms for reporting these types of scams.

Email Scams

If you receive an email that seems suspicious, has an unexpected attachment, or is about an unpaid bill that you do not believe you owe, do not reply to the email, click any links, or open any attachments. Instead, call the City of Livermore Utility Billing Division at (925) 960-4320 immediately so that we are aware of the situation.

In-Person Scams

If you are ever unsure about someone claiming to be a City of Livermore employee, ask to see their City of Livermore employee identification card and call Livermore Municipal Water at (925) 960-8100 for verification.
