Yukio Shimomura: My 2.5 Years Behind Barbed Wire in the U.S. during WWII

Livermore Public Library is proud to present Yukio Shimomura on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Storytime Room. A Japanese American, Yukio Shimomura, was born in San Francisco, California in 1935. When Shimomura was seven years old, World War II began and his life, along with his family’s, was changed. Through an extensive presentation, Shimomura will share his family’s experience before and during WWII, especially how Executive Order 9066 forcibly relocated them into incarceration camps. Shimomura will also explore how incarceration impacted his family generationally inside and outside the camps.

This free event is part of the Authors & Arts series which is sponsored by the Friends of the Livermore Public Library. For more information, please call 925-373-5505.
